Imagine waking up to a cold winter morning in Feb, at an altitude of some 2500Mts. It took two days to reach this place, and are super excited about shooting some birds. You look out the window and it’s raining, with no chance of clouds clearing any soon. Though disappointed but nevertheless get ready. You then take a jeep and get down at the start of your trekking point.
The rains cease to stop, on top of that a chilly wind continues to blow, piercing through your multiple layers of warm clothes. Your fingers and toes are paining and you are so numb that you can hardly speak. Now is the time to decide, whether to go back to the hotel or finish the trek no matter what.
I chose to do the latter and that is how I landed at Thambri taal on that cold, cold day. I was hoping to shoot some birds along that 4 Kms stretch but that never happened. A lone Himalayan Monal was the only company I had, when I reached here. He too took off as soon as he saw me. As tired I was, I was extremely happy to have completed the trek and while leaving, decided to take this image of the taal.
Frankly there’s nothing much to be told about the image, apart from the fact that, while composing, I used the log of wood as my foreground element. Nothing great about the image, but yes I remember this day as if it happened yesterday.
